Laugh It Up
Well, starting up the blogging again last week didn't happen as you noticed. But I'm outlining several posts for this week so that I'll for sure be adding some new stuff. Be looking for my current music, movie, and book recommendations. Believe me - there's some tasty stuff in all categories that you won't want to miss out on.
Until then, here are some funnies I've been exposed to lately...
Ever wonder what Dr. Phil would look like as an M&M? Wonder no more.
Try your hardest to not cry your eyes out with laughter...
These guys are professionals.

Me & Summer.
Well, it's been a while since a post! I had been awaiting last weekend for forever and once Thursday night rolled around, I wasn't thinking of blogging. Sorry for the lack of content. There's some tasty stuff on the way. Rest assured.
The weekend turned out more incredible than I could've thought. Absolutely perfect weather, loads of fun activities, and great company. And things only got better after Saturday afternoon when me and Summer decided to take our relationship to the next level. We met at Easter in St. Louis but, long story short, didn't talk much until the first part of June. Since then we've been going back and forth every day and we've both really enjoyed getting to know each other. She's incredible. Truly. I know I sound like your typical, "this is my first relationship and I can't control myself" boyfriend, but we do have a wonderful relationship already and are excited to see it unfold. The long-distance thing should be fine, although I'm sure, difficult. I'm already making the trek down to T-town a week from Sunday.
If you're not my friend on Facebook, you probably haven't seen these, so here's a couple pics of the weekend. Props to Gary Hornstien for the use of his Nikon D40 and his creative-thinking-cap bandana. :) And also, to my sister, Rachel, for acting as producer in making sure errybody looked great. "Places, everyone!"

Chemical Brothers project
Interesting idea...
Ever since their inception in 1993, The Chemical Brothers have soundtracked numerous special moments in countless people's lives. Whether it's the music of choice for a big night out,or the key moment that kicks the party into ascension, or even the inevitable comedown periodin the milky pre-dawn hours, it is nigh on impossible to contest Tom and Ed's enduring impact.
We're looking for creative people worldwide to get involved as we bring together filmmakers andartists through the technology of Google Earth. This is an exciting invitation to participate, and you can do so by making a short film clip or photograph that revolves around the theme of 'Midnight Madness'.
Make your own short film clip (from 2 to 20 seconds), or take a photograph, celebrating the insanity that goes on at the stroke of midnight and related to the specific point of origin. Then upload it to Google Earth via The Chemical Brothers' website, and tag it to its exact global location. To do this you will need to have your own YouTube or Flickr account, and the site will walk you through the process of submitting your content.
The Midnight Madness global video project is a celebration of the odd things that people get upto at the midnight hour - take that as the brief. Think local. How would your film sit within Google Earth, and how does it relate to your location? Your film will be tagged to where you shot it.
Videos of any resolution will be accepted as part of the overall Google Earth project, but if you want your film to be considered for the main film the resolution needs to be 640x480 pixels minimum - and higher, if at all possible. You will also need to supply some contact details, and read the terms and conditions of the music video.
Deadline for submissions via Chemical Brothers' website for the film project is Monday 25th August 2008 at 13.00 GMT, but the sooner the better.

New Music Releases
Today has been a good day for musical announcements. A real good day. Here's a recap.
Kings of Leon
The new album comes out on September 23. And that's way too long for me to wait. I wasn't into 'em when Molly's Chambers was a big hit, but after seeing them at the Monolith Festival last year and getting the last album, I became a massive fan. Especially considering how much they changed from the album before that. It became super diverse musically and much more layered and overall cool. This album from the 2 songs I've heard sounds super promising and I must say, I wait with great anticipation.
Listen to the new single here. I can't stop listening to it tonight!!
Travis
The new album, Ode to J. Smith, is out on September 29. I wasn't sure if this was a full album or not when I first heard of it. I thought maybe it was just an EP or something. Here's what Fran has to say about it...
"Usually I write a bunch of songs over a year and then we record them and piece it together. But this album was born out of a rush of creative urgency; a need to make a record, it has to be amazing. Perhaps that's why Ode To J Smith is the most cohesive thing we've ever done. When you move so quickly there is very little time to reflect. You have to be decisive”.
I've heard one tune off of it and have only listened a couple times and it's definitely different than old stuff. Not sure I dig it, but I can't write off such a great band. If you aren't already familiar with their first 3 albums, namely The Invisible Band which is my fave, you need to fix that. Quickly.
Keane
As I posted the other day, their new album is out soon, on October 13, and they released the single, Spiralling, today for download. It's pretty tasty from the first listen I heard. I only got through it once cos now I can't stop listening to the KOL single. :D
Get it here.

New Queen + Paul Rodgers album!!
I gotta say, I'm way stoked for this!! I hope they bring the magic of the olden days into this album. They're a great team live and I hope to see 'em again in concert if / when they tour. Paul brings a rockier flair to the music and I dig.
Having between them sold more than 300 million albums, it is only to be expected that the first studio collaboration between rock giants Queen and revered rock legend Paul Rodgers in the form of the upcoming album The Cosmos Rocks is one of this year’s most eagerly anticipated.
For the music we will have to wait a little longer: the album does not reach stores until September 15 (October 14 in the USA), but for anyone wondering how Queen and Paul Rodgers circa 2008 visualise themselves the band this week revealed the cover art for the forthcoming CD album.
The thematic image is the work of award winning photographer Edgar Martins who has been hailed ‘one of the most influential artists of his generation working within the medium of Photography’. Widely represented internationally in various high profile museums, public, corporate and private collections, Martin’s awarded books and series include 'Black Holes & Other Inconsistencies' and ‘The Diminishing Present’, work, according to critical observers, ‘positioned in the grey area of fact and fiction, reality and allegory’.
So beyond Martin’s striking cover image, what lies in store with The Cosmos Rocks?
Tantalisingly, the Queen + Paul Rodgers’ point of view is:
“People really, truly playing together in the studio - you don't get that much these days. But, you will get it on the new Queen and Paul Rodgers album.”
The Cosmos Rocks, featuring 13 all-new tracks written and recorded by Queen + Paul Rodgers, is released by EMI/Parlophone throughout the world excepting North America where it is a Hollywood Records release.

Working Out Is Painful
This is why I don't work out. It's too dangerous. :)
Okay, so not really. But an experience like this might keep me from setting sneakered feet on a treadmill again. I love this commercial!
Today's Treasures :: Sleeping In / Deep Thoughts
Here are a couple things to brighten your day.
First off, a tune that should cheer you up. It's called Sleeping In and is by Nevertheless. From the first 2 seconds, it had my attention the first time I heard it and it just kept getting better. Let me know what you think of it. I totally love this song. If the album is anything like this, we've got something stellar to look forward to. Thanks for passing this on, T Rent!!

Second, if you've never heard of Jack Handey, well, I feel bad for you. Of course, I had never heard of him until a couple months ago, so I can't say I've been in the loop for an extended period of time. He's got these hilarious statements called Deep Thoughts and he has a couple books. Here's a selection for today.
- If you're in a boxing match, try not to let the other guy's glove touch your lips, because you don't know where that glove has been.
- It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
- The face of a child can say it all, especially the mouth part of the face.
- If you saw two guys named Hambone and Flippy, which one would you think liked dolphins the most? I'd say Flippy, wouldn't you? You'd be wrong, though. It's Hambone.
- Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that, I'll be over here, looking through your stuff.
- It's not good to let any kid near a container that has a skull and crossbones on it, because there might be a skeleton costume inside and the kid could put it on and really scare you.
- I wish I had a dollar for every time I spent a dollar, because then, yahoo!, I'd have all my money back.
- When I found the skull in the woods, the first thing I did was call the police. But then I got curious about it. I picked it up, and started wondering who this person was, and why he had deer horns.
- If you ever crawl inside an old hollow log and go to sleep, and while you're in there some guys come and seal up both ends and then put it on a truck and take it to another city, boy, I don't know what to tell you.
- Laurie got offended that I used the word "puke." But to me, that's what her dinner tasted like.
